Visible Mending Workshop Led by The Goody Vault
Join us for a leisurely night of mending at Production Mode!
Manny Edwards, founder of the Goody Vault, will lead a small group through the basics of mending a damaged garment. To provide context and inspiration, Manny will bring some of his favorite mended vintage pieces from the 1940s-70s.
This workshop is intended to be fun and relaxing, while teaching you the art of hand mending.

We’re hosting Salvage Cloth straight from Brooklyn!
In addition to the pieces we already love in the shop, Carie, the designer of Salvage Cloth, is bringing all new designs just for the weekend—plus more sizes!

Styling Sessions with Sal Yvat
Fashion Consultant/Wardrobe Stylist Sal of The Look Authority & Production Mode are teaming up for Chicago Fashion Week on Saturday, 10/12, 12-6 pm. Sal is one of Chicago's premier commercial and personal stylists, having defined and executed wardrobe for brands like Moët & Chandon and Condé Nast. Production Mode is one of Chicago's top fashion collections, and also carries the work of select slow fashion fashion and jewelry designers from Chicago and beyond.
Book a 30 min session with Sal (for you or you + a friend) at a special discounted rate for Chicago Fashion Week at Production Mode's boutique/atelier. Sal will help you style pieces from your own closet and/or suggest pieces from Production Mode's roster of independent designers (available at10% off for the day for ticketholders).

Multi-Harness Weave-a-long with Maggie Leininger
Learn the basics of hand weaving with us! In this afternoon workshop, Maggie Leininger will lead you through the process of how to use a four-harness loom and weave a piece of fabric that you can use to decorate your home or wardrobe. This class is ideal for beginners with absolutely no experience who want to learn how a loom works. Participants will learn to use a versatile and portable multi-harness loom, how to read a weaving pattern, and how color blending occurs in a weaving. Participants will be able to take home what they've woven during the workshop for future reference.
Reverse Drafting with The Weaving Mill
Join us for a delightful afternoon unlocking the secrets of weaving ...
Reverse drafting is the process of unraveling fabric swatches and diagramming their construction using weave draft notation on graph paper. In this workshop, Emily Winter from The Weaving Mill will lead participants through the process of unraveling swatches of woven cloth and diagramming their construction on graph paper. It’s really fun! Think of it like a material sudoku. You don’t have to be a weaver to get in on this. If you like puzzles of any kind, we think you’ll enjoy it.

Hija De Nada Trunk Show
Designer Kari Alvarado Hoff (Zürich/Harvard, IL) will be popping up in our shop on June 1, bringing hand-loomed knits, handwoven straw hats, and giving us a look into her process!
She'll also providing hat cleaning, blocking, and brim shaping services on-site the day of the event.

Mend-In at Production Mode + Trunk Show with Wulfka
Celebrate Earth Day + Fashion Revolution at Production Mode! Here's what we have planned:
Mend-In:
People all over the world will be mending clothing together on April 20th as part of Fashion Revolution Week- come celebrate with us! Bring an item of clothing in to mend it at the shop. We'll provide supplies (thread, pins, needles, scissors, buttons, fabrics for patching) and expertise if you'd like guidance.
... And for those of you who don't want to do it yourself, we also offer visible mending services- bring in a piece for us to mend for you. You can pick out patching fabrics, threads, etc, and get a quote for the repair!
Trunk Show:
Kate Van Asten, designer of the sustainable brand Wulfka, will be in the shop for the day! Kate is an expert in sustainability and inclusive sizing- we love Wulfka's elevated basics for their flattering cuts and beautiful eco-friendly textiles. Come see what Kate brings and learn more about her inspiration and process!
As always, we'll have drinks and bites for you to enjoy while you shop, mend, and chat. The mend-in & trunk show are complimentary. Come one, come all—no need to RSVP.
Shibori & Natural Dyeing Workshop led by Ms. Amy Taylor
Join us for a relaxing day of natural dyeing at Production Mode!
Master dyer Amy Taylor will be leading a small group (10 ppl max) through the basics of shibori and natural dyeing.
Participants will be provided with their choice of a Production Mode silk charmeuse scarf, silk charmeuse shirt, or organic cotton t-shirt blank (all ethically made in Chicago!) to dye in either cutch (acacia catechu), which produces a cinnamon brown color, or logwood (haematoxylon campechianum), which imparts a rich purple.
Amy will demonstrate how to bind our shirt and scarf blanks in order to achieve a lovely mermaid scale design.
This workshop is intended to be fun and relaxing, while introducing you to the art of shibori and natural dyeing. Come out for an enjoyable day learning new skills AND leaving with a lovely handmade shirt or scarf hand dyed by you to keep or gift to a loved one! Drinks (cocktails & NA options) and light snacks will be provided.

Chidoriya Pop-up
Join us for a day of self care as we welcome Japanese natural skincare and beauty line, Chidoriya to the shop. Chidoriya's US rep, Mariko Sato-Marcelle will be on hand to demonstrate and sample Chidoriya's beautiful array of products and gifts. We'll be serving a special health tea as well. Come by for a day of relaxation and indulgence.
Production Mode Open Studio & Cocktails for Open House Chicago Fair Trade
Join us for an open studio, shopping, and cocktails as part of Open House Chicago Fair Trade, a celebration of World Fair Trade Day! In addition to our collection of slow fashion, we will also be hosting Abigail Glaum-Lathbury and Anna Brown, and their made-in-Chicago collections for the day. We’ll have fair trade cocktails for you to enjoy as you shop and tour the studio.
Please note: You must enter our building, Mana Contemporary, on the EAST side of the building via Allport St. Look for the colorful mural. Our studio is located on the second floor, at the end of the long hallway in #204.

Production Mode will also be donating $100 to Brave Space Alliance in support of their community efforts and their Crisis Pantry; a mutual aid program that provides essential food, medical supplies, and PPE to those who have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, and recently expanding these resources and acting as a clearinghouse and stockpile of needed supplies for actions, and rapid response to police brutality. Brave Space alliance is a black-led, trans-led LGBTQ Center located on the South Side of Chicago, dedicated to creating and providing affirming, culturally competent resources, programming, and services for LGBTQ individuals on the South and West sides of the city.

Fashion Presentation at SOFITEL Chicago
Please join us this Sunday, March 3 at 6 pm at the Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile for champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and a fashion presentation! Production Mode designer Jamie Hayes will present about the line and her design process while Production Mode designs are shown by models.
